Not a Gazelle or an XL Glider - Weslo Air Walker I owned an XL Glider for five years and loved it. We got rid of it because after four years it started to make so ...
I love this machine. It was a bit of a struggle for me to assemble it, because I had to use a wall as my second set of hands, but all the pieces were there and the instructions are fairly easy to decipher. As for greasing the parts, remember that a little grease means more than what you would use to grease a cake pan. If a little oozes out after you slide pieces together, you can always wipe it off. It’s easier to over grease a little the first time than it is to disassemble, re-grease, and reassemble the parts prone to friction and squeaking. Have paper towels handy during the assembly process. Oh, and for me, tapping the end caps meant more than a tap. I had to hit them fairly hard with a hammer once they were positioned correctly. It took me more than a few minutes to assemble the product, but the end result was more than worth it.
Some people wrote that they wished for more padding on the handles. I thought the padding was sufficient - especially compared to the rake I have been wielding all week sans gloves. But, as is suggested in the other reviews, you can add more if you feel it is needed.
I like the position of handles. There is a bit of twisting, but nothing that is uncomfortable. It’s about what you experience while running, though less than that with some power walking routines. If your arms are bothering you, you can always hold the bar and use your legs only.
The machine moves well, regardless of my chosen pace. Nearly silent, I have found it easy to use the Air Walker in the rec room while watching TV. So you can be a TV junkie without being a couch potato.
It is also a wonderful way to get a walk or two in on an inclement day. One of the best features for the injured or overweight is that your feet and knees don’t take the pounding they do on regular walks because you aren’t repeatedly stepping off and on a surface. It’s not quite as weightless as swimming, but it’s got to be close to the next best thing.
The final determining factor that pushed me to buy this product was the positive reviews here on epinions. I was not disappointed in any way with my purchase. The Weslo Air Walker offers affordable, comfortable, and effective exercise.
