After using the internet to narrow my home gym choices down to several machines I decided to seek out display models I could take for a test run. I tried one of the popular “bow” machines and didn’t care for the way it felt. I found the EXM1500S at a local fitness store and it literally blew me away!
The action is completely smooth and almost completely silent. The machine was easily adjustable for different sized people and the range of motion was excellent. There is a mid-level pulley that really lets you focus on abdominal exercises and the low pulley is off-set to the right of the bench and it swivels for a wide range of exercises.
All of the bearings are sealed, the bushings are self-lubricating bronze, the pulleys are fiberglass reinforced nylon, and the cables are military grade tested to 2200lbs.
I ordered my machine for the same price as one of the “bow” machines and for about 1/3 the price of the other. I haven’t received it yet and haven’t decided if I will assemble it myself or let the dealer do it for $100.00.
There are machines that are more adjustable, machines with heavier weight stacks, and machines that offer more exercises but their prices are mulitiples of what you pay for this gym.

I have received my EXM1500S and am happy to say that assembly went very well. Another reviewer’s concern about the instructions has been addressed and they are very precise and step-by-step now. All of the hardware (bolts, nuts, washers, etc..) were packaged in a labeled blisterpack for easy identification.
If you purchase this machine I would suggest one deviation from the assembly instructions. Wait until you have the frame completely assembled before adding the pulleys instead of adding them at each step. I accidently knocked over the benchpress arm (during frame assembly when there is no tension limiting it’s range of forward motion)and it shattered one of the pulleys rendering the machine inoperable until replaced. The dealer I purchased the machine from replaced the pulley at no cost the next day.
After playing on the machine for a few hours I must say it’s everything I hoped for and I can’t wait to start a structured workout program.
